after reading reflections, which I loved, I eagerly looked forward to reading another one of this authors books... and I was not disappointed....another review said it was predictable?? not at all! I would take this book to bed with me at nights, and fought sleep just to turn another page....I like the fact that Ana was a strong independent woman, and didn't scare easy....I put myself in her shoes, and without ruining the plot line, I'll just say, I would have ran!! the ending was a jaw dropper.....literally...I found myself going back through the book trying to find a clue I had missed...how had I not seen that coming?? because Ms. Novelle is a great writer, that's why.....when a book makes you furious at some of the characters, and sad for some, that's picturing it in your head, because Ms. Novelle is that good....would I recommend this book?? absolutely! ok, tonight, going to start on the next one "driven" can't wait...if it is as good as her other two, this girl will be happy!

I am totally stunned and almost speechless. It seems as if what was `calculated' about this book was the ending. My stomach is pretty much all twisted up in knots as I suspect that will happen to others, but the trip and the tension were taut and exciting. The writing and pacing was top notch. I suggest `Calculated' be read with some stiff drinks ready to help everyone manage the finale! I recommend it but with reservations for folks who might find a surprise ending upsetting.

Ana Meyers is one kick-ass journalist, who has a tendency to get her own butt in a sling. However, the scent of a great story and the righting of some horrible wrongs are simply not to be passed up. How can that possibly compare to her re-assignment? She never gives up, but she is in for one strange awakening. We all are.

Ana does get a really nice mini-respite when she hooks up with a previous lover, Reilly, who is a totally focused computer research geek and a hot partner between the sheets. This is Ana's only chance at a little comfort when she cashes in with her friend for free research service for all the chicken Zingers Reilly can consume. Reilly is a really fun interlude and helps Ana get some additional, important information, too.

Enjoy this strange, but delightful story as I did. Keep in mind; your innards are going to get scrambled. Isn't that what a great thriller should do? Give this wild one a chance!

In Calculated by RS Novelle, you have all the elements of a great story memorable characters, a great plot, dynamic writing, and an excellent murder mystery that will keep you in suspense until the end. If that isn’t enough, by the end of the story, you have a great surprise ending.
Ana Meyers is a reporter who has been transferred to work on weddings. Of course, she hates weddings and isn’t happy about this. Then a woman named Mara Windsor comes into her office and tells her that she has a story that will expose the Church with a bigger scandal that will go to the highest levels of the government. Ana is not convinced until Mara is found dead days later.
From there, Ana starts her investigation and the story is skillfully plotted since there are obstacles in her way of getting to the truth of the story. Ana’s personality, which is tough and feisty, made the story move for me along the tension of the plot throughout the story. In every scene, you wondered whether Ana would find the truth or be killed during her investigation.
All this makes for an unpredictable ride to the very end of the story. Once you’re there, you’re more than surprised at how this story ends. The fact that this story has Ana Meyers as a journalist solving the story makes it more compelling instead of the police or a private detective.
I have no problem giving this story five stars. I also have no problem saying that RS Novelle can join some great writers in her genre, which include Jason Pinter and Liza Marklund.
Enjoyable read, good characters, well written. Easy to follow but interesting plot with quite a few good twists. Look forward to the next one.
